About Us

From the first Discipleship Training School (DTS) pioneered in Sept. of 1978 we have seen remarkable growth, development of ministries and many voluntary full-time workers who have been trained, equipped and sent out to pioneer. We have sent out teams to over 60 countries, resulting in over 20 new ministries being pioneered world wide. From it's very beginning, God has called YWAM Salem to be a training and sending base, which continues to be what we do best. Our adopted unreached nations are North Korea, Sudan, Myanmar, Azerbaijan, and China.

We have about 80 full time staff and 5 volunteers at any given time. Our desire as a base is to see not just a "select few" involved in missions, but a vast array of people. At present YWAM Salem operates six Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) one in the Winter, two in the Spring (EngageDTS and Korean DTS) two in the Fall (WDTS and Korean DTS) and the CrossroadsDTS (CDTS) in the Summer. We also offer Foundations for Counseling Ministry (FCM) in the Winter, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in the Spring, and Basic Leadership School (BLS) in the Fall along with the School of Communication Foundations (SCF), English Language and Culture (ELC), and Environment and Resource Stewardship (EARS) in the Summer. For a large part of the year we run NIKO and Ropes Course Training. The Mobile Team travels to churches, schools, special events, and universities both in America and abroad sharing our passion for world missions. Project Revelation 5:9 focuses on raising awareness, training and sending people to the unreached people groups of the world through a 6 month internship here and abroad.
