The main objective of the US NIKO coordinators’ Office is to serve NIKO sites in the US. We serve through resourcing, training and pastoral care.
Training to establish a NIKO program or to develop NIKO staff for your site is part of our mandate as a
NIKO launch location. For information about either of these contact us at the YWAM Salem Oregon
base.
We also help link NIKO programs. In the US we want to develop relationships between sites to become
a better network of shared resources. We endeavor to have all the different operating location dates so
that we can serve one another with staff or help participants find a program available in their area.
Part of the continuing training we offer, in conjunction with YWAM Bishop, is the Wilderness First
Responder medical training. We highly recommend this training to any and all NIKO staff. Please check
the WFR page on this website for more information.
On site in Salem, we work with staff development for different sites and offer an internship for those
interested in staffing NIKO seasonally. We generally run between 5-10 NIKOs per season. This amount
of NIKOs enables us to accelerate staff training for individuals or teams. Through being a launch location
for the program we often have international NIKO staff working with us allowing for an enriched training
experience.
If we can assist you or your staff in any way, feel free to call and ask. We have a wealth of experience
and a great network of very experienced NIKO leaders all over the world.
