Overview: The English Language and Culture (ELC) course is a three month course for those who want to gain cultural understanding and develop a biblical world view while improving their conversational English skills. Attention is given to the development of; vocabulary, pronunciation, general practical language skills for conversational English, and critical thinking development. Instruction takes place in small groups and classroom settings using activities, discussions on current issues, real life situations, and weekly field trips. Students from various nations live together in a community setting with other native English speakers. This gives students a full emersion experience to use English in different settings. Living in community is part of what makes YWAM unique. Our relationships are firmly base on giving preference to one another in love and respect. We live together, eat together, and learn together. Everyone participates in the work duties of the community. We expect our students and staff to participate in the life of the community such as worship, intercession, and our weekly gatherings. Pre-requisites: -Perspective students need to have completed a DTS OR -Committed to attending a DTS either in Salem or at another base, following their completion of the ELC
