Galilee Project Purpose Statement

The Galilee Project is a three month intensive program designed to equip and empower staff for leadership to disciple others while being infused with YWAM DNA.

The school is called the Galilee Project because that is where Jesus went to get those who would become the leaders of an unstoppable movement. They where not chosen because of their talent or natural gifting, rather because God chose them, and they responded by following Him. Jesus chose them because they where ordinary, but their devotion, passion, and commitment allowed them to become heroes of the faith. Now Jesus is waiting for others to “drop their nets and follow Him”.

Participants will attend the FDTS lecture phase filtering the information no longer in the first person (for themselves), but third person (how it affects the students). Participants will have limited responsibility in the FDTS but it will increase as initiative is shown and challenges met. Assignments will be given daily with a focus on leadership and discipleship. Participants will also attend additional classes specifically designed for equipping you for leadership (fund raising, servant leadership, etc.) Speakers from the FDTS, YWAM staff, and the outer community will be involved for maximum growth. Above all, you will serve.

Throughout the Galilee Project, you will be given different jobs that will be your responsibility throughout the school. It is up to you to take initiative and make whatever area you are over even better than when it was handed to you. For every job that is given, there is a reason. Find the value and purpose of whatever job you are over and make it evident to others.

A Note About Your GP
(What to expect)

One of the major aspects leaders need to learn is commitment and responsibility. Failure to complete any of the requirements before or during the school is grounds for the possible removal from the Galilee Project. It may sound harsh, but this is not an ordinary school. You will find it is a little more like boot camp. Love it or hate it, we promise if you apply yourself, we will make you into a fully functioning leadership machine. What you do or don't do will be monitored, watched, recorded, and taken into account as to your overall performance during the school. There are no grades, there is only pass and fail. Failure means you do not try and are unteachable. Remaining teachable qualifies you for staying in this game. We hope you enjoy your rest now. Take time to sleep in. Starting at the beginning of the GP, you will hit the ground running. Expect reading, assignments, Bible meditation, personal time with God whenever you can squeeze it in, and class morning, afternoon and evening. Yes, three times a day Monday-Friday. Also expect some weekends to also be taken. If you have any questions, we are here. So, give us a call or email. This program is intended to be challenging, but not in a way that is condemning or makes you feel like "I can't do this". We will also give you a wide variety and range of different kinds of leaders, leadership styles, and gifting by bringing in different kinds of leaders. Many assignments that you will have during the GP (Galilee Project) will be given to you without a due date. We will not tell you when it is due as it will be random to make sure that you have been responsible. How much or how little you do will show us your initiative. Be self reliant and try to figure things out on your own. Don't always take the easy road and ask someone.

You will be living on campus. It doesn't matter where. And a warning: we may switch things up throughout the school to test patience and the "giving up of rights"/ surrender. Important for any leader. You might come home one night to find no bed or that you have mysteriously changed rooms or have new roommates. There will be no requests for roommates, or where you will stay. The mark of a leader is that you have surrendered your life and put others above yourself. This should be reflected in your attitude and your life. Therefore, it will constantly be tested and opportunity given for you to respond by purposely putting you in uncomfortable situations. We are saying this beforehand to avoid frustration and anger during the Galilee Project. Some have said that these methods are a little raw and insensitive. However, learning about stuff and applying the stuff is totally different. We are interested in the fruit that you can produce. The life that you will live. Not the information that you can tell us. So, virtually everything is up in the air, changeable, questionable, and designed to challenge you emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. You have been warned and prepared. Nothing should come as a shock. Whining / complaining is not an option. Being a good leader means being in uncomfortable and difficult situations and remaining steadfast. This will be an ongoing test, not just during the school, but your whole life.
