TESOL
Overview:
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Certification is an intensive 4 week course. This course aims to graduate students who are confident and equipped to teach English to international students in the United States or overseas.
Attention is given to the development of:
Biblical principals for life
Language teaching, linguistics and second language acquisition
Learning styles
Classroom management and lesson plan development.
Instruction takes place in small groups and classroom settings using activities, discussions and in class practicum experience. Students will receive 4 credits from the University of the Nations, a University of the Nations TESOL certificate and a letter of recommendation.
Living in community is part of what makes YWAM unique. Our relationships are firmly based on giving preference to one another in love and respect. We live together, eat together, and learn together. All of our students and staff participate in the life of the community. While learning to teach English, you will also develop and deepen your relationship with the Lord through weekly worship, intercession, and our community gatherings.
Pre-requisites:
All perspective students
-Need to have graduated with a high school diploma or an equivalent GED
-Need to be fluent in the English language
-DO NOT need to be a native English speaker
-DO NOT need to have completed a YWAM DTS (YWAM Discipleship Training School)
