Join Us in Activating a Generation to Disciple the Nations

YWAM Salem is embarking on a campaign to expand our facilities in response to the coming wave of young missionaries.

Phase 1 Goal: $1,600,000

We are celebrating as we have seen the Lord’s favor over our campus and this campaign!

Because of the incredibly generous response of the community, we have completed our Public Campaign goal of $1.6 million!

Preparing to Activate

We are seeing an exponential increase in student numbers. Given current growth trends we expect to be at full capacity by 2021. In order to achieve our long-term vision and train the next generation of missionaries, YWAM Salem must first expand and improve its facilities in 3 strategic ways.

Create Space for Growing Impact

Student dormitory: As we prepare to train and send more missionaries, we need more beds for them to sleep in. This new dorm will add 34 beds in 18 versatile rooms allowing us to expand our capacity to meet our growing DTS classes.

Preparing a place for multiplication

Infrastructure and Permits: In order to prepare the YWAM Salem Campus for expansion, we secured comprehensive conditional use permits. We recently broke ground on our core systems, like water and septic systems! These upgrades will literally lay the foundations for the future.

Expanding our live-learn environment

RV Loop: YWAM Salem’s Campus has an area that is ideal for parking and providing electric and water hook-ups for recreational vehicles (RVs). This low-cost project will have a significant impact. We will be able to host 6 RVs at any one time, immediately expanding our capacity to house students, staff, volunteer laborers, guest speakers, and more. Expanding housing options on the base is critical to the live-learn environment in which we disciple.

Our Solution

Located on 35 acres in Oregon’s capital city, YWAM Salem is a non-profit, international and interdenominational Christian organization focusing on missions training, local and global outreach, and coaching young people through our flagship program, The Discipleship Training School (DTS). We help people discover their gifts and calling and use those to serve God in the world—especially the unreached.

In 2019, we trained 140 students who went on 10 different outreaches. Those teams have left a lasting impact in Greece, Albania, Vietnam, Thailand and many more nations around the world. They have served through kids ministry, teaching english, Prayer and Worship, Evangelism, Prison Ministry, Refugee ministry and in many more ways.

We are on track to increase to 30 teams in 2028.

Phase 1 Budget

We have worked with engineers, architects, and contractors to project the cost of our first phase of expansion.

Student Dormitory 1,078,000
RV Loop 138,000
Water System 166,000
Septic System 58,000
Road System 44,000
Multipurpose Sports Field 116,000
Total 1,600,000

Through the generosity of many donors, we have raised everything we need for Phase One!

Our Mission

We believe all people were created to know God and to dare to believe He can change history with your life. But there's a problem. 3 billion people in the world have never heard the name of Jesus, and countless young people feel disconnected from God’s story.

We’re on a mission to change that by targeting 2 key demographics: unactivated youth and unreached people.

Future Phases

At YWAM Salem, we are committed to growth. And we're planning for it.

Student Dormitory

This phase adds an additional 10,800 square foot versatile student dormitory building, bringing our total capacity to 300+ students.

Project Cost: $2.4 million

Assembly Hall

A place for our community to meet as a whole and additional classroom space for our expanding programs. This 11,500 square foot building will have seating for 350+. Three classrooms that each seat 50+ and room to store materials.

Projected Cost: $2.4 million

Staff Housing

This includes 6 family oriented units, 16 single oriented units, 8 speaker/guest units, and increases staff capacity by 45% up to 120. Additionally, these new living quarters house our team close to the students they are mentoring. This is critical to the live-learn environment in which we disciple.

Projected Cost: $1.4 million

serving in thailand
YWAM’s training schools and short-term outreach programs have provided opportunities for thousands of young people who were raised in our affluent society to experience the reality of life in other parts of the world. Through these experiences, the students have found a greater understanding of the breadth of God’s love, and many have committed their lives to church ministry or missionary work. I am grateful for their influence on the youth of American culture and around the world.

YWAM is a unique contribution to world mission. YWAM has been highly effective in attracting mission entrepreneurs, especially among young people, and mobilizing them for a wide range of important mission work. Sprawling, sometimes messy and very nimble, YWAM’s entrepreneurial spirit is the envy of the larger, more structured missions. YWAM’s dependence on the movement of the Spirit of God in directing its work is a witness to all of us.

It has been my privilege over the years to observe and participate with Youth With A Mission on numerous projects around the world. Their focus on evangelism is always great. YWAM has a tremendous team of dedicated servants of the Lord and always marvel at how God has been able to use them in so many strategic areas of the world.

My life has been so powerfully impacted by missions. I’ve been involved with trips to Calcutta, India, to Bucharest, Romania, to Ecuador. And I have seen God move through those trips powerfully in my life and seen how God uses that to change people’s lives in those countries. I have had some very close friends of mine who have worked with Youth With A Mission and been on mission trips and their lives have been radically turned around by working with this ministry. So, I encourage people considering going on a missions trip to link up with YWAM because it is an incredible ministry.
