THE TITUS PROJECT

GET EQUIPPED TO TEACH THE BIBLE CROSS-CULTURALLY

The Titus Project was born out of a vision to bring a deeper understanding of God’s word to the worldwide Church. Our goal is to develop School of Biblical Studies (SBS) graduates to teach the skills they have acquired, and then GO on a two-month outreach to equip pastors and church leaders with greater biblical literacy.

We want to help churches all over the world by giving them the tools they need to study the Bible on their own. We especially focus on places where people don't have much access to Bible teaching. Our hope is that the people who join us will become lifelong Bible teachers, sharing what they learn wherever they go, whether they head back home or start long-term missions.

LECTURE

The first three weeks are spent training here in Salem, Oregon. During the training phase, participants learn how to prepare, present, and illustrate Bible teachings. Each participant will teach four times during the lecture phase and be evaluated on their strengths and weaknesses. The staff first models all practice teachings. Book discussions, prayer, worship, intercession, and outreach prep are also a part of the lecture phase.

OUTREACH

The following eight weeks are spent on outreach in small teams focused on reaching the church in remote locations. The goal of outreach is to equip local pastors and believers with the tools of Inductive Bible Study, Bible Overview, and practical communication skills.

We aim for each participant to teach between 6 and 10 hours each week during their overseas experience. On outreach, teammates will also evaluate each other for continued growth. Upon completion of the outreach phase, participants return to YWAM Salem for a week of celebration and debriefing.

vision

Despite Christianity’s explosive growth, the church in the developing world lacks biblically educated leaders. To date, there is one formally trained church leader for every 450,000 people outside of the U.S. Some even say that 85% of pastors worldwide have had no formal training whatsoever. That means that most of the 77,000 unbelievers coming to Christ daily are left with a shortage of qualified leaders to disciple them.

Our purpose is to meet this need by training and sending Bible teachers to disciple a new generation of believers who are more deeply grounded in biblical truth.
