We are a global missions organization, but we do not overlook our call to serve locally! Whether it’s for an evening, a few weeks or anything in between, we want to connect local churches and individuals to the beating heart of global missions−right here in our city of Salem, Oregon! The following ministries operate out of our campus and are designed to make a local impact.
Salem Ropes facilitates team building through a ropes challenge course located on our campus. 54,000 local residents have benefited from YWAM’s team-building ropes course over the last decade, creating trust between YWAM and the Mid-Willamette Valley.
During spring break and summer, we host youth groups on our campus for a summer camp experience called Mission Adventures. We desire to give junior high and high schoolers a taste of missions in their city. We provide training, opportunity, and challenge for youth groups to engage their faith and share the gospel!
Gospel Focus Ministries exists to evangelize in our city via conversation and proclamation, to equip Christians to effectively share the gospel and defend the Christian faith, and to engage non-Christian worldview with the hope found in the gospel of Jesus Christ through intentional relationships. Since they began several years ago they have seen over 300 people come to Christ!
The Evening Discipleship Course (EDC) provides a way for the community to engage in YWAM’s world-renowned missions training in a context that fits their busy schedules. The courses run 8-10 weeks and take place on Monday evenings. Childcare provided! Click “learn more” to see the details for the next course.
We are connected with several organizations here in Salem that assist with the resettlement of refugees. We believe God has called us to love the foreigner. Therefore, our staff and students are involved in small acts of service like providing rides to the grocery store, assisting with the DMV, babysitting kids, furnishing apartments, and being good friends to the refugees settling in our city.
Although we go to the nations, we realize that God has also brought the nations here to America! Friends of all Nations (FAN), is an outreach ministry focused on creating community and sharing the love of Jesus with international students.
We believe we are more than the worst thing we’ve done. As the capital of Oregon, Salem has a high volume of prisoners. For years, our on-campus counseling ministry has been serving this need in our community. They regularly visit prisoners and lead support groups.
If you have questions about any of our ministries contact them directly or email info@ywamsalem.org and we'll be sure to point you in the right direction!
