Did you know that 90% of Christians will never read the entire Bible in their lifetimes? Titus Project was born out of a vision to bring understanding of God’s word to the Church around the world that is in great need, great hunger, and has limited opportunity to receive proper Bible training otherwise. To accomplish this, we develop School of Biblical Studies (SBS) graduates to teach the skills they have acquired and then mobilize the SBS graduates on a two-month outreach to equip pastors and church leaders in biblical literacy.
School of Biblical Studies (SBS) graduates are in a unique position to educate believers in utilizing the Inductive Bible Study method to approach God's Word with confidence. Did you know that in the 10-40 window, more than five million pastors have no access to any kind of formal Bible teaching? Titus Project participants can be part of the solution that bridges the gap between biblical training and teaching.
Our goal is to equip the church worldwide with tools for studying the Bible for themselves. We target places with limited access to Bible teaching. Our goal is that our program participants will become life-long Bible teachers and continue to equip the church wherever they go, whether back home, or into long-term missions.

The first three weeks are spent training here in Salem, Oregon. During the training phase, participants learn how to prepare, present and illustrate Bible teachings. Each participant will teach four times during the lecture phase and be evaluated on their strengths and weaknesses. All practice teachings are first modeled by the staff. Book discussions, prayer, worship, intercession and outreach prep are also a part of the lecture phase.
The next eight weeks are spent on outreach in small teams focused on reaching the church in remote locations. The goal of outreach is to equip local pastors and believers with the tools of Inductive Bible Study, Bible Overview, and effective communication skills.
We aim for each participant to teach between 6-10 hours each week during their overseas experience. On outreach, team-mates will also evaluate each other for continued growth. Upon completion of the outreach phase, participants return to YWAM Salem for a week of celebration and debriefing.
Despite Christianity’s explosive growth, the church in the developing world lacks biblically-educated leaders. To date, there is one formally trained church leader for every 450,000 people outside of the U.S. Some even say that 85% of pastors worldwide have had no formal training whatsoever. That means that most of the 77,000 unbelievers coming to Christ daily are left with a shortage of qualified leaders to disciple them.
Our purpose is to meet this need by training and sending Bible teachers to disciple a new generation of believers who are deeper grounded in biblical truth.
Titus Project begins January 11, 2025 and will finish in April 8, 2025!
3 months (12 weeks) which are broken up into a 3-week lecture phase, 8-week outreach and 3-4 days of debrief.

“Titus Project was an answer to prayer. For years God has led me to teach his Word. Having staffed years of BCCs, and pioneered an SBS, the only thing I can truly say is that I wish I did my Titus Project Years ago!”

SBS 2019, Titus Project 2024
Titus Project was an incredible experience for me, and I really saw the perfect combination of Spirit and truth in the whole program. After gleaning from the Word for 9 months straight in SBS, it was the perfect opportunity to give out from all that I had learned. It is such a practical program that equipped me as a teacher with skills that I still use to this day, but also continued to teach me to be dependent on the Holy Spirit, with the humility that I am and will always be a learner and disciple first.

What kinds of activities will your week be filled with? Each of these elements work together to enable you to achieve the course objectives.
Monday-Friday mornings you'll have the opportunity to hear lectures from Bible study experts and Titus Project staff who will give teachings on topics such as how to prepare a lecture and cross-culture communication. Staff will model teachings that students will practice and give during some of these lecture times as well.
YWAM is dedicated to worship Jesus and engage in intercessory prayer as integral aspects of daily life. You'll participate in worship and intercession on Mondays and inductive Bible study on Thursdays with the entire campus. You'll also have a weekly time of worship and intercession as a class.
We believe disciples grow best in a community with other disciples. We’re focused on developing a community where you feel welcome and encouraged to pursue God in this season. You'll get to brush shoulders with other missionaries and students during meal times, study times, and free time!
Your staff are here to facilitate a safe environment for you to engage with the Word of God. You'll have a one-on-one each week with a staff member to discuss your assignments, all God is teaching you, and how to improve for the following week of study.

The majority of your time in Titus Project will be spent on outreach, teaching and applying the topics you prepared during lecture phase.
You can start at this step any time! We'll collect some personal information from you (i.e. where you're from, your birthday, education/work background, etc.) We'll also ask some get to know you questions and hear more from you about your heart behind applying. It only takes 10-15 minutes to apply!

You will specify the name and email of this person in your application form and we will automatically send them the form through email! Your part in this step is to let this person know what's up!
Once you have have submitted your online application and we have received your character reference, your School Leader will review your application within the week. Youth With a Mission Salem is registered with the IRS as a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation and all donations towards staff members are tax deductible. However, when giving towards a student in one of our University of the Nations registered courses (such as the Discipleship Training School), your payment will not be eligible for a tax deduction. This is because when you give toward one of our students training, legally it is viewed as a payment towards tuition. Per IRS guidelines and according to Oregon state law, tax deductions are not available for tuition payments.
Yes! YWAM loves families. Our secondary schools can be academically intense, so this may be a busier season of your life. However we have had many families successfully complete our courses. Here's some more information that may be helpful to you.
Spouse Options and Pricing
Secondary School spouses are not allowed to sit in lecture on a regular basis. If the spouse wants to sit in lecture, we recommend you both take the school! Many secondary school spouses who are not taking the school will be focused on caring for their children. However, if you are not attending the school and do not have children, we recommend volunteering on the YWAM Salem Campus. This is a great way to connect with the community and get your rent and meals free.

YWAM Salem is a non-profit organization and as such all of our staff and students rely upon the financial support of others in order to be here. Due to this, we are unable to offer a large scholarship program. We do however have a small scholarship fund to offset the cost of our courses for international applicants. Reach out to our Admissions team to inquire about a scholarship application form (admissions@ywamsalem.org). Please note that completing the application does not guarantee you any financial assistance.
Yes! Completed applications should be received 4 months prior to the start of the school (Africans at least 6 months.) Each family member, including children, that are coming to the school must have their own passport that is valid up to six months after the end date of the school. We will begin your visa process after you have been accepted.
You will be living in dorm style housing on our beautiful 35 acre rural campus. For secondary schools, we usually fit 3-4 students per room. There's plenty of room for you to study, hang out, and go on walks. Check out our campus tour for a look around.
Yes, bring a Bible! But the Bible you bring will not be used for your homework/studies. Each book you study will be printed out on paper for you. We will be using the ESV (English Standard Version) for our studies. A new ESV print Bible is not required but recommended.
We have had many students in the past need to go home for graduations or other events. You can certainly miss a weekend, but plan on the majority of your Saturdays spent studying. We highly discourage missing an entire week of class, as that will put you behind in this fast paced course. If you are needing to miss full weeks, we recommend taking the school at a different time where you can fully focus on the entirety of the course.
A laptop is not required to take the school. However it is highly recommended. Each week you will have some typed assignments, although the majority of your time will not be spent on the computer. We have a cafe with computers you can use. In the past students have been grateful for this, but at times the situation can be inconvenient, with so many people wanting to use the computers.
