A YWAM DTS is a stepping stone into missions, a chance to see if long-term missionary work is right for you. While it is a big step to join any missionary organization, whether it be for a short term trip or for long-term service, there are a few things to keep in mind about YWAM as you pray about your decision.

Whether you have a call for long-term missions, or even a career. YWAM can be foundational for the rest of your life.  DTS can help empower you wherever the Lord leads you. So what has God put on your heart? What dreams are you dreaming? What steps would help you to start doing things God has called you to?

Sometimes it is easy to disqualify ourselves from what God has told us to do, but it is God who qualifies us. Spending a season to grow in the Lord and discern his guidance can help you walk out those hopes and desires God has given you. 

YWAM Has Advanced Training Programs & Opportunities

Discipleship Training Schools are just one of the many training experiences YWAM has to offer. At YWAM Salem, we offer Advanced Training Programs in leadership, Bible study, counseling, evangelism, and more. We also have a global university where there are programs to train up long-term missionaries, send out health care workers, train creative professionals, and so much more.

If there is a particular skill you want to develop, chances are there’s a YWAM program that can help you develop that skill. While a formal education is a must for some jobs, what is unique about YWAM’s advanced training programs is that you can learn and serve in different countries. 

Long Term Ministry Opportunities

Not too long ago, it was thought that to be a missionary one had to be a pastor, evangelist or medical professional. While we do need people with those skills and gifting, there is room for all different talents. The mission field needs accountants, hairdressers, artists, engineers, teachers, artists, and everything in between. There is so much room for creativity in missions. After doing a DTS, you can apply to work with different YWAM ministries and with 1,000 operating locations in 180 countries, the opportunities are almost unlimited!
